Financial trouble has been reported at the Staffordshire based home of cycling outfit Team Washo. The team, which currently consists of 17 riders, has been floating in between the top division and division 2 for the past 5 or 6 seasons. But lack of progression has seemingly cast doubts over their future.
The team’s eco-friendly sponsors ‘Green Planet’ have supposedly lost interest with the project, and the team’s future hangs in the balance. A spokesperson for the company commented: “The results of Team Washo have been disappointing in recent months, and we feel we’ve gone as far as we can. We are in a recession and can’t keep pumping money into the outfit. Cycling is on the up in the UK and there are numerous new teams emerging, yet to our company the team looks like deadwood.”
Asked his thoughts on the matter, team manager Dave Washington responded: “I’m disappointed. I don’t know what to say really, the future looks bleak. We’ll try and keep on going but without further investment the team will be struggling to continue. We’ve known for a while that this agreement with ‘Green Planet’ was becoming shaky, but we didn’t expect the news we received yesterday.”
Indeed the managing director of ‘Green Planet’, Mr Horace Bartholomew yesterday announced that his company would no longer be offering any funds to Team Washo, and that there were plans to sell off the facilities either to another cycling outfit or some sports club. The conclusion is that the big loser will be Team Washo, whose future is now in doubt.

It's all a sideline story which may well lead to some future development, but what???
And yes a fantastic victory today, delighted with that :)
booohooo, I only have 165 thousand dollars of cash, im poor
You got yourself some nice prize money today, though :)
Btw... You have an excellent looking team. Many very good riders.
Maybe try to build a couple TT riders and then you will have it all... :)
Thats sad to hear. I hope you can keep going...
However not getting very many results in div 1 is better then not getting any results in div 6,7,8 like my team.
The only results my team gets are injuries. LOL
I agree the Russians have a lot of money and they love to sponsor cycling teams. LOL
Good luck to you.
